Look through our gallery, architecture magazines, social media, and what is in your favorite neighbourhood to get a sense of the style you like. Make notes about what you like and dislike about your current living space and how you want to use your new space. Browse our architecturally designed house plans to determine which style and layout best meets your needs and budget. Our designs can be used as-is, modified, or our talented team can create a design just for you.
Receive and review the first draft of your design and submit any changes to the design team for modification.
While you are working with our team on the design, contact several local contractors for installation and finishing quotes. The contractor you choose will be responsible for assembling the Interhabs panels on your build site and all other aspects of the build not included in your Interhabs package.
Once your design drawings are complete, you will work with your Interhabs representative to confirm your package specifications. Your Interhabs representative will walk you through the many products available to us, to choose items such as: siding, roofing, windows, and doors (depending on what your package requirements are). Our staff are extremely knowledgeable in the variety of building materials we offer and are happy to answer any questions you have.
After the design and material choices are selected you will receive a quotation package that includes the price with a detailed list of build materials for you to review.
When you accept the quote and make your initial deposit (10% of the package price) your Interhabs home will be placed into our production schedule. Lead times can vary, so it is important to confirm this with your Interhabs representative and contractor.
You will also be sent a copy of the final drawings to be used when you or your contractor apply for permits. It is important to check with your municipality to find out what the building requirements are in your area.
The manufacturing of your home’s panels begins! We use the best lumber available and efficiently handcraft the panels within the controlled environment of our Hubbards, NS facility.
A payment of 30% of the package price is due before the construction of panels. An additional 30% of the package price is due when the windows and doors are delivered, and the balance owing is due upon the final delivery of Interhabs materials to the worksite.
While the panels are being manufactured, you and your contractor can prepare the build site. Depending on your project this could include excavation, pouring a foundation, rough-ins for electrical and plumbing, landscaping, etc.
Panel delivery will be scheduled between your Interhabs representative and either you or your contractor. We also recommend the use of a ‘zoom boom’ to make onsite handling easier. The panels are numbered to your drawings for ease of installation by your contractor.
